Last summer I went to the Oasis orphanage (www.OasisHaiti.org) on the HOPEww Volunteer Corps, not really sure what to expect. I certainly did not expect that I would fall so in love with Haiti and the kids, and be returning this year for a month.
I hosted a Coffeehouse Fundraiser on Sunday June 9, 2019 to raise funds for my trip and for the projects we will be doing this summer. I had asked some people to perform songs, to donate art and to sell baked goods. I was blown away by the amount of people that came to the event, and the talent of the performers. People were so generous financially and with their time. My goal was to raise $1,000 but I was doubtful that I would reach that goal. I was in shock when I counted over $1,800!!
The event was super fun, and it was incredible to see how people wanted to support me and Oasis. This whole process of the fundraiser really strengthened my faith; it showed me that God is taking care of me and that when something is God’s will, He will provide a way!
